I had to conform to the 11 by 17 flatbed scan because when this piece was completed I did not have access to a direct digital scan or even know of a photographer that could do it. This was the first black and white "pure inking" I completed. It is important for me to self-catagorize my style because of the unique technique I have developed. Because all depth and detail and lighting effects have to be achieved with a technical pen (a brush with ink for water or skies is used, and graphite for moonscapes or skin as well)a pure inking takes months and months to complete and is very challenging. Just imagine spending one year (the length of time to finish "Reflections") and at the end having a technical pen blob ink on the art. This has never happened--wait let me find a very large tree to knock on--but the fear is never asleep when I work."-Ulysses
